NimalungLakhang is located close to the Chumey village in Bumthang. The Lakhang was established in 1935 by DashoGonpoDorji and DoringTrulukuJamyangKunzang who was regarding as the third mind reincarnation of Trenton JigmeLingpa.  DoringTruklku was visiting the valley he visited Nimalung village and set upon reading a holy yext 100 times but failed to do so due to the demise of DashoJamyang and he had to excuse himself and left to perform the necessary rituals for the same. He met DashoGonpoDorji during the funeral of his father and upon assuming his powers he immediately laid the fundations for a monastery and temple in Nimalung along with DoringTrulku.  The main relic of the shrine is a statue of Guru Rinpoche. The monastery is also decorated with several murals depicting the Drukpa and Nyingmapa teachings and paintins of various masters and gurus associated with the monastery.  The festival is celebrated every year during the 5th month of the Bhutanese Calender. the festival revolves around the unfurling of a huge nine meter high Guru Rimpoche scroll painting. The painting was donated by LepenPemala and was blessed in 1994 by LhalungThuskey Rinpoche in the midst of a large gathering at the Lakhang. The festival 's schedule is fully of a series of masked dances.
